The first month of the Terrific Two's

I can’t believe another month has passed, a whole month since my boy turned two!  And boy oh boy, we’ve been having non-stop fun!  It’s almost like since he turned two that it’s a whole different ball game – things just runs more smoothly and life is so much easier.  We haven’t seen a tantrum in a couple of weeks, communication are easier because he better conveys what he wants… that or we understand him better and he’s been so good and an absolute joy.  Life’s been goooooood 🙂

Jamie’s just the cutest little angel. He at last learned to say his own name, along with a few other words and he has started to string some words together – his favorite at the moment “haai sies” – it’s so funny.  On the physical side of things he truly grows with the speed of light – I have a tall boy and my oh my – he is getting heavy.  He’s been keeping busy – active like always and keeping his mom and dad on their toes!  Although I must say he keeps himself busy for longer stretches of time with his toys.  His favorite is his Thomas & Friends toys – he has quite a collection now… already has 4 Percy’s and his new acquisition a Stanley.  When we move into our new house I want to redecorate his room and use Thomas as the theme, so I better get my paint brushes out!  He very affectionately calls Thomas “toot-toot”, how sweet is that!

This past month has been quite busy for him as he had to attend 3 birthday parties and 2 parties at school – lots of birthdays this time of year!  So my little boy practically ran on sugar!  Talking about sugar, the little dude discovered my Lindt dark chocolate slab on Saturday and he ate some of it – I couldn’t believe it, I really didn’t think he would like the bitter, dark chocolate, but he did.  I guess he inherited my chocoholic-genes!

Happy 25 months, my gorgeous little dude!  Stay as gorgeous and sweet as you are now!

Mammie loves you around-the-world, to the moon and back, and around-the-world again!

Jamie's Birthday Party

Oh I’ve been worrying myself sick for about two weeks about how the weather is going to turn out on Jamie’s birthday.  To say we’ve had a lot of rain this winter is an understatement, PE was actually flooding just a week before and with Jamie’s party being planned for outside we would have been in a bit of a situation had it rained that day.  But we woke up on Jamie’s birthday and the weather was clear!  God is good and his present to Jamie was the most gorgeous, sun-shiny day!  Happy days!

So at 9am we went to the party venue and my dear friend, Berni helped me to set up and at 10 all Jamie’s little friendies and their parents arrived.  I was very lucky that my friend Berni (Raven Photography) was brave enough to agree to be our photographer for the party, so a lot of beautiful memories were captured on film… or should I rather say SD card ;-).  So she started snapping away.

Jamie’s party was a Dr Seuss theme and I mostly incorporated two books in the theme – Green Eggs & Ham and then Cat in a Hat.  It was a bit of a tricky theme with there not being a lot of this theme’s party stuff available in South Africa, so I had to make a lot of the stuff like the Cat in a hat’s hat, and I had Seuss quotes in frames, made bunting and such. There was still a lot I wanted to do but unfortunately ran out of time because I made the cake and most of the eats myself as well.

The little ones had such great fun, because the party was held at Windsor and they had so much to do as it’s basically a huge playground!  The little ones and their parents also enjoyed all the food which consisted out of cupcakes, little tarts, chocolate marshmallows, cake pops, green eggs and ham, quiches and cocktail pies, strawberries, cherry meringues and then of course their party buckets full of other sweets.

Jamie had the time of his life playing his little heart out.  He loved having so much friends to play along with and all his loved ones with him as well.  He was spoiled beyond believe with all the presents he received – his room now resemble a mini Toys r Us!  He received a Thomas the Tank Engine train set from his mommy and daddy which he has started to enjoy so much now – he is a huge Thomas and Percy fan.

It was a beautiful day which I’m very thankful for!  Beautiful memories were made and I’m so glad we were able to make Jamie’s birthday so special!
